Got threatened by the public radio

Our local public radio station has pledge drives at least twice a year. I don't care what they do normally because I control the knob in my car. But this morning I felt being threatened. An announcer literally accused people of listening for free without contributing. He was absolutely right, but did he know that I also listen to commercial radios without paying anything?

Although I don't get to complain about free services, I do have to point out that it is likely that the very existence of a free public radio prevented other sustainable, probably even higher quality, less biased, commercial radios from happening.
