Thanks to the generosity of Google Ventures to open up its library, I am starting to watch lots of great videos. I began with Tony Fadell's interview. In addition to Fadell's candid insight to their products, I got two major takeaways:
1. Manufacturing is going to be difficult to move back to the U.S. It is inevitable to outsource hardware manufacturing to Chinese suppliers, but you have to put people there to watch the process.
2. Kickstarter is great, but cannot be the model for hardware innovation. It is because great products take many rounds of iteration. The money raised through Kickstarter is not enough for these repetitive modifications. But Kickstarter can be a great place to get ideas.
