This is my summary of John Cochrane's latest post.
This ditching-the-progress-to-return-to-the-sage trend is really worrisome. It does make the new generation of macroeconomists to doubt whether they are truly scientists. Cochrane wrote, "Physics does not write papers about 'the Newton-Aristotle debate." I can't agree with that more. I just read Walter Isaacson's Einstein. (Review and thoughts should be another post) It helped me relearn some of my physics and better understand the scientific revolution in physics. If economists want people to respect us more, we should not just be physicist-envy, but also physicist-like.
Too bad that Krugman Kool-Aid is so easy to swallow for so many people.
